Dear Public Records officer,


Pursuant to the California Public Records Act, §6250 et seq., I request any and all communications between the city of Los Angeles and the Los Angeles Dodgers, or Major League Baseball about playing baseball in 2020 during the COVID-19 global pandemic. Specifically, I request that you provide:

  • Any memorandums, plans or other documents created since April 1, 2020 that contain either COVID or coronavirus and one of the following terms: Dodgers, MLB, or baseball.
  • Any emails sent to the city from an email address ending in from April 1, 2020 to the time this search is conducted. (For example:
  • Any communications, including emails, with departments of public health, such as the California Department of Public Health or officials in Los Angeles County from April 1, 2020 to present containing any of the following terms: Dodger Stadium, Dodgers, MLB or baseball.

Additional Information:

This information is being sought on behalf of BuzzFeed News for informing the general public. I request this information in a digital format. Please send these files via email or FTP upload. Because the release of this information is in the public interest, please waive any applicable duplication fees. If you determine that fees will exceed $25, please inform me first. 

As I am making this request as a journalist and this information is of timely value, I would appreciate you communicating with me by telephone or electronic mail, rather than by postal mail.

These records are not being requested for commercial purposes. I intend to use these records to write news stories and inform the public about actual government activity, concerning the novel coronavirus global pandemic.
