Dear city of Los Angeles officials,

I hope you are doing well. Under the California Public Records Act § 6250 et seq., I am writing to request:

A list of all organizations -- including businesses, companies and nonprofits -- that received any and all forms of a city subsidy, tax abatement or any other financial incentive in each of the past five years, broken out by:
1. The name of the recipient;
2. A description of the project; and
3. The type of subsidy, abatement or incentive, its value, and the agency that awarded it.

If there are any fees for searching or copying these records, please inform me if the cost will exceed $15. However, I would also like to request a waiver of all fees in that the disclosure of the requested information is in the public interest and will contribute significantly to the public’s understanding of incentives for economic development. I am a representative of the news media and am gathering the information for educational and news gathering purposes. This information is not being sought for commercial purposes.

As provided by the California Public Records Act, I would request your response within ten (10) business days.

If you choose to deny this request, please provide a written explanation for the denial including a reference to the specific statutory exemption(s) upon which you rely. Also, please provide all segregable portions of otherwise exempt material.

I would also like to request that the documents be provided electronically in order to reduce the response time as well as costs and other resources. If the information requested is housed in an Excel or other spreadsheet, or is available as comma limited text, please provide it in that form.
