Under the California Public Records Act § 6250 et seq., we are requesting an opportunity to inspect or obtain copies of public records that show the dates of approval for marijuana dispensaries in each of these three areas of Los Angeles: the Westside, the Central part and South Los Angeles -- as defined by maps such as this one: http://maps.latimes.com/neighborhoods/

We request the information broken out by the names and addresses of the businesses.

If there are any fees for searching or copying these records, please inform us if the cost will exceed $15.  However, we would also like to request a waiver of all fees in that the disclosure of the requested information is in the public interest and will contribute significantly to the public’s understanding of marijuana dispensaries. We are representatives of the news media and are gathering the information for educational and news gathering purposes. This information is not being sought for commercial purposes.

The California Public Records Act requires a response within 10 business days. If access to the records we are requesting will take longer, please contact us with information about when we might expect copies or the ability to inspect the requested records.

If you deny any or all of this request, please cite each specific exemption you feel justifies the refusal to release the information and notify is of the appeal procedures available under the law.

We would also like to request that the documents be provided electronically in order to reduce the response time as well as costs and other resources.
