Request #19-5770
  Closed

Dear Custodian of Records:

Under the California Public Records Act § 6250 et seq., I am requesting an opportunity to inspect or obtain electronic copies of public records that show:

  1. The number of vehicle fueling stations (gas stations) in the city for each of the years 2016, 2017 and 2018
  2. Aggregated total number of gallons of fuel sold by the city’s fueling stations, separately for each of the years 2016, 2017 and 2018, categorized if possible by regular gasoline, premium gasoline, midgrade gasoline and diesel.
  3. The methodology used to calculate number of gallons of gasoline and diesel sold by the city’s fueling stations per year, for years 2016, 2017 and 2018, if other than direct reporting by the fueling stations
  4. The methodology used to calculate greenhouse gas emissions from transportation for the city for each of the years 2016, 2017 and 2018. If no greenhouse gas emissions inventory was taken in those years, then please provide public records showing methodology used to calculate greenhouse gas emissions from transportation for the most recent year in which such a calculation was made.

If there are any fees for searching or copying these records, please inform me if the cost will exceed $10.  However, I would also like to request a waiver of all fees in that the disclosure of the requested information is in the public interest and will contribute significantly to the public’s understanding of the status of gasoline and diesel sales in California, and trends in those sales. This information is not being sought for commercial purposes.

The California Public Records Act requires a response within ten business days.  If access to the records I am requesting will take longer, please contact me with information about when I might expect copies or the ability to inspect the requested records.

If you deny any or all of this request, please cite each specific exemption you feel justifies the refusal to release the information and notify me of the appeal procedures available to me under the law.

Thank you for considering my request.
