Dear Sean Robbins:
The Discovery Section of the Los Angeles Police Department has reviewed your request for criminal history records.
The release of criminal history information is governed by Penal Code Section 11105, which lists specific parties who are authorized to receive such information. It does not appear that you are an authorized party; therefore, your request is denied. Additionally, please be advised that criminal history records are maintained by the State of California Department of Justice
If this is an Agency to Agency request: we are unable to process your request as the Discovery Section handles Pitchess motions, subpoenas, and California Public Records Act Requests only. For government agencies, the requested records may be obtained directly from the Los Angeles Police Department’s Records and Identification Division as an agency-to-agency request. To request a record, a formal request from the agency should be submitted directly to the following address:
Los Angeles Police Department
Records and Identification
Retrieval and Dissemination Unit
P.O. Box 30158
Los Angeles, California, 90030
The agency should include all information they have regarding the arrest, such as the date, charge(s), and/or booking number. The agency may contact the Retrieval and Dissemination Unit at (213) 486-8300 for additional information regarding agency-to-agency requests.
If you have any questions regarding this correspondence, simply respond to this email.
